Chloramphenicol is effective against a wide variety of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including most anaerobic organisms. The most serious adverse effect associated with chloramphenicol treatment is bone marrow toxicity, which may occur in two distinct forms: bone marrow suppression, which is a direct toxic effect of the drug and is usually reversible, and aplastic anemia, which is idiosyncratic (rare, unpredictable, and unrelated to dose) and generally fatal. 

Due to these side effects, CAP is now forbidden to use in animal production in many countries, such as EU, USA, Japan and China. The residue detection requirement is also among the strictest ones.

  • This product is shipped at room temperature and shall be stored at  2-8 oC in cool dark place upon reception, do not freeze.
  • The kit shall be brought to room temperature before use. For example, take the kit from cold storage to room temperature for at least 30-40min.
  • Unused kit shall be returned to cold storage.
Stability Up to 12 months when stored properly.
